The workshop was originally Established in 1978 and was a small petrol station and garage. In 1983 it was purchased by Derek Scott-Smith and became McLaren Vale Auto Electrical which would eventually become one of the longest standing workshops in McLaren Vale.

McLaren Vale Auto Electrical started off as a small Auto Elec and Mechanical workshop comprising of Derek and Graham Smallman who joined the team in 1985 when they were performing all Auto Electrical and Mechanical installs and repairs. As part of their growth and quality of service improvements they became part of the Bosch Car Service Network and established their Bosch Workshop status.

What started off as a small business taking care of many local customers, wineries and businesses and operating for nearly 20 years, McLaren Vale Auto Electrical was in for some major changes Derek took on the RAA road service contract for the region in 2002.

Since then, we have employed a further 3 full time RAA staff to keep up with demand. We maintain a large area contracted by RAA including McLaren Vale, Aldinga Beach, Sellicks Beach, Mount Compass, Kangarilla, Kuitpo Forest, Willunga, and many areas in between. Chances are, if you’ve had RAA assistance in these areas within the last 17 years, it would have been one of our friendly staff tending to your needs.

Current owner John Scott-Smith started working in 2004 as an automotive mechanic apprentice, completing training early 2008. John took over the business in 2015, starting a movement into 4×4 and off road/camping accessory fitment.
